San Francisco
Two weeks ago, I visited the
Jelly Belly Factory in Fairfield, CA with my family. We had a pleasant drive from San Francisco, up Route 80, going north over the
Carquinez Bridge, and then east on Route 12 to 1 Jelly Belly Lane. Just north of Fairfield is
Vacaville, then
Davis, and the
Yolo Bypass Wildlife Area - more great places to visit.
As soon as you walk into the Jelly Belly Factory Visitor’s center you can tell it’s a family friendly place. They have gigantic Jelly Beans hanging from the ceiling and pictures of famous people made out of Jelly Beans.
They have a snack bar where you can try any of their candy, with over 50 flavors of
Jelly Beans, 44 kinds of Confections, including Candy Corn and Chocolate Malt Balls, and 7 types of
Sport Beans.
To learn about the legend of Jelly Beans and how they are made, you will have to take the tour around the actual factory. They have tours approximately every 10-15 minutes, starting at 9:00AM on weekends and lasting about 40 minutes each. The tour is very engaging and informative but I would not recommend it for 5 years old and under.
Unfortunately they don’t allow anyone to take pictures in the actual factory so to see it you will just have to go and take a tour yourself.
